The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Office, in cooperation and coordination with the Central Bank of Iraq / Banking Studies Center, held a specialized workshop entitled: “Implementation of the Decisions of the Terrorists’ Assets Freezing Committee and the United Nations Security Council Resolutions” on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Office, in cooperation and coordination with the Central Bank of Iraq / Banking Studies Center, held a specialized workshop entitled:
“Implementation of the Decisions of the Terrorists’ Assets Freezing Committee and the United Nations Security Council Resolutions”
on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
The workshop was attended by a number of employees from banking financial institutions. Its main topics focused on the following:

Reviewing the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions concerning terrorist financing and proliferation financing, and the mechanisms for compliance therewith.

Clarifying the national procedures for implementing the decisions of the Terrorists’ Assets Freezing Committee.

Providing practical training on the use of the Office’s smartphone application, enabling instant access to and monitoring of individuals and entities listed on local and international freezing lists.

Explaining the responsibilities of the concerned entities in ensuring the immediate implementation of international and national obligations related to terrorist financing and proliferation financing.
This workshop comes within the framework of the Office’s ongoing efforts to enhance practical understanding of international standards requirements in the field of targeted financial sanctions, including aspects related to terrorist financing and proliferation financing, and to strengthen the culture of compliance and risk management within institutions. This contributes to protecting the national economy from the risks of terrorist financing and enhancing financial security and economic stability in the Republic of Iraq.
